The American Indian Technical Assistance Network (AI-TAN)
provides training and technical assistance to American Indian
Head Start programs in 26 states across the country. AI-TAN
develops, implements and manages technical assistance services
and expert knowledge to Head Start grantees and the American
Indian/Alaska Native Programs Branch of the Head Start Bureau.
AED provides on-site training and technical assistance to
federally recognized Tribal Head Start and Early Head Start
programs across the country that serve children ages birth
through five. Early childhood development; health services;
developmentally, culturally and linguistically appropriate
services; transportation of young children; working with young
children with disabilities; management; and family and community
partnerships are among the areas in which AED assists. AED’s
goal is to improve the quality of services to American Indian
low-income children and families to promote social competence
and school readiness. The project assists in building the
knowledge and capacity in federally recognized Tribal Head
Start programs, and strives to meet the needs of the Tribal
programs either directly or through resourcing.
